This year, 40 new logistics facilities competed for the title of "2023 Logistics Facility of the Year." They were evaluated on criteria like innovation, environmental commitment, operational efficiency, and employee well-being. The results are in, and Greenfood's state-of-the-art Greenhouse facility in Helsingborg is the winner.
Drawing from a rich history of selling close to 400,000,000 salads across Europe over the past decade, Picadeli’s and Greenfood’s CEO David von Laskowski highlighted their rise as a dominant force in the healthy and sustainable food space, but also their deep understanding derived from massive amounts of data and insights.
Greenfood continues its commitment to sustainability with another significant investment to reduce its carbon footprint. At the group's new 44,000 square meter food facility in Helsingborg, they are setting up one of Sweden's largest solar installations. Together with Öresundskraft and Soltech, 3.8 MW solar panels are being installed, which will produce approximately 3.5 million kWh of electricity annually.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved the targets Greenfood set to limit global warming to 1.5°C in line with the Paris Agreement. Greenfood commits to reducing emissions from its operations (Scope 1 & 2) by 42% by 2030, with a base year of 2021, and reducing emissions in its value chain (Scope 3) by 52% by 2030, also using 2021 as the base year.
The first quarter of the year represents a strong start to 2023. Group sales are up 20.7% and Adjusted EBITDA almost doubled.
During 2022, Greenfood AB (publ) continued to consolidate its position as a leader in healthy and sustainable food. Revenue increased in all business areas, but the most significant growth occurred at Picadeli, which increased revenue by 53.3 percent compared to 2021. "This year, we have truly confirmed the scalability of Picadeli's model. Profitability accelerates as the number of salad bars and sales volume per salad bar increases," says David von Laskowski, CEO of Greenfood Group and Picadeli.
Greenfood has delivered a solid and stable performance for the fourth quarter. Net sales for Q4 increased by 19.9% over prior year, and adjusted EBITDA was stable at SEK 38.3 million compared with the same quarter 2021 (38.1).
The third quarter of the year was characterised by a robust performance despite upstream cost inflation and more price-sensitive consumers.
For the second year in a row, Greenfood's CEO David von Laskowski is a finalist for CEO of the Year in the large company category. With David as president and CEO, Greenfood has grown from being a Nordic company to becoming one of Europe's largest food groups in healthy and sustainable convenience food.
