Popular meat-free burgers are paving the way for vegan sides
Sales of vegan products are increasing substantially. Meat-free burgers are just one example of products that are growing in popularity. Interest in vegan sides is also increasing, which is why Greenfood company Ahlströms has entered into a new collaboration with Violife, manufacturer of award-winning vegan cheeses that are sold worldwide.
Interest in vegan products and meat-free alternatives is increasing. Several players, including Sweden’s grocery retailer ICA and burger chain Max, have therefore expanded their offerings of plant-based products. One example is Beyond Meat, the popular meat-free vegan burgers now sold in grocery stores and restaurants around the world. As interest in meat alternatives increases, so do sales of vegan sides and plant-based products such as sauces and cheeses. Greenfood company Ahlströms has therefore started a collaboration with Violife, the popular award-winning vegan cheese maker.
“We are further expanding our vegan offering by working with Violife, an experienced international player. We can now offer the Swedish market a wide range of vegan cheeses in various forms and flavours. Everything from a spreadable cream cheese alternative, to vegan cheeses with different flavours such as cheddar and parmesan,” says Jacob Ahlströms, CEO of Ahlströms.
Violife products are based on coconut oil and corn and potato starches. All products are 100 percent vegan, and free from lactose, GMO, gluten, nuts, soya, preservatives and cholesterol. Made in Greece, they are considered by many to be the best and tastiest non-dairy cheeses you can buy. Violife's plant-based cheeses are available worldwide, and are sold by major chains such as Whole Foods (USA) and Sainsbury's (UK). Violife is the best selling vegan alternative to cheese brand in the UK and is listed in all major retailers.
Ahlströms specialises in unique products and modern food concepts with an emphasis on vegan food, including vegan burgers, sausages and mince, and meat alternatives such as chicken-style strips. All products are hand-picked by Ahlströms and maintain the high quality and delicious taste that they themselves demand. Ahlströms already has agreements with popular FRY's, the manufacturer of vegan alternatives.
Ahlströms is part of the expansive Greenfood group, one of the Nordic region's leading companies in healthy food. The Group has a turnover of SEK 5 billion, employs 1,500 people and operates in the Nordic countries, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Spain.
